Today I want to introduce you to some fundamental traffic principles and expose the importance of blog backlinks. The reason I felt it was important to write this article is because I see too many aspiring online network marketers creating blogs and generating lots of content that is serving them very poorly. If you are reading this and don’t feel you are getting the most out of your content, hopefully we can change that today by teaching you why you need blog backlinks, and where to get them.
The Basics of Web Traffic and Where Blog Backlinks Fit In
If you think about it there are really only three ways your blog, or any website for that matter will ever get traffic.
- Someone types in the url
- Someone clicks a link that brings them to your blog
- You are found through a query in the search engines
That’s it, and if no one really know about your blog yet than we can scratch number one right off the list. As for the latter two blog backlinks play a major role in both.
How Are People Directed To Your Site Through Blog Backlinks?
Any live link on another site that points back to your blog can be a source of direct traffic. Blog backlinks from other sites are often easily spotted as highlighted anchor text. Were someone to click this link it would bring them back to your blog. Social bookmarks are also a form of blog backlinks. You can post a recent blog on a site like facebook, twitter linked in etc., and people can easily click through to your blog. This is a perfect example of traffic source number two.
Blog Backlinks and Their Role In SEO
First of all the most important thing when it comes to SEO is writing an SEO optimized article, but this article is about blog backlinks, so if you want more info about how to write your article properly read my post 6 SEO Basics… The second most important thing when it comes to your blog’s SEO is how many and what kind of blog backlinks you have. I want you to think about it this way, remember when you wrote a paper in school and you had to list the resources you used like what books or what encyclopedia you got your information from. Well what if 100 people from different schools had to write a paper on volcanoes and when reviewed all 100 papers cited the same book on Volcanoes. It would then be a safe assumption that that book is truly an authority on the subject of volcanoes. Blog backlinks work sort of the same way. If you wrote an SEO optimized post on Volcanoes these blog backlinks are a way of Google knowing that you are the authority on the subject. Google’s mission is to provide the best results specific to a person’s query. Thus these blog backlinks make it much more likely that your post will rank in Google.
